Selu
Deleting your account
How to delete your Selu account and everything in it, from the app or by writing to us.
In the app
- Open Selu and go to the Albums or Chat tab.
- Tap the gear at the top.
- Tap Delete my account, read what it will remove, and confirm.
It happens straight away, without asking anyone, and cannot be undone.
Without the app
If you no longer have the app, or cannot log in any more, write to admin@selu.world from the email address the account uses, with the subject Delete my Selu account. We delete it and confirm by email within one month, usually much sooner. We may ask one question to make sure the request really comes from the account's owner.
What is deleted
- Your account, email address and password.
- Your username, display name, description and profile picture.
- Your albums, and the photographs and videos in them, including the files in storage.
- Your messages, in every conversation. One-to-one conversations are removed entirely.
- Your connections to other people, and the copies of Selu's data on your phone.
What is kept
- Photographs you put into albums other people are still in stay in those albums. Everyone in a shared album already holds a copy on their own phone, so removing yours would only rewrite an album that belongs to them as much as to you. Your name comes off them: they show as taken by "Someone". To take a particular photograph out of a shared album, delete that item in the app first, then delete your account.
- Reports you sent, or that were made about you, are kept for up to a year after they were decided, no longer linked to your account, as the privacy policy describes.
- Deleted data can remain in the hosting provider's encrypted backups until those backups are overwritten, after which it is gone. Nothing is restored from a backup into a deleted account.
More detail is in the privacy policy.
